Industrie de Nora, an italian multinational, on the road to lean transformation
De Nora is the world’s leading supplier of sustainable technologies for electrochemical industrial processes and water treatment.
Experience, innovation, sustainability …
Thanks to a long-standing commitment to R&D, De Nora has become a highly innovative supplier of electrodes and components for electrochemical processes as well as water treatment solutions. The company also places great emphasis on the transition to a green economy.
De Nora is focusing strongly on the development of technologies for environmental and energy sustainability: from electrodes for energy storage, to water electrolysis and water treatment, also with a view to the circular economy.
Today, the De Nora group has a turnover of around half a billion euros, 90% of which is generated abroad, and employs more than 1,600 people at nine production sites in Italy, the USA, Japan, China and Brazil.
The Global Excellence journey
Driven by strong competition in international markets, Industrie de Nora decided to undertake a Lean Transformation, especially in manufaccturing, aimed at improving performance in terms of lead times, OTD, costs and OEE. The intervention extends to several production sites, in Italy, Germany, the USA and China, and to the entire order fulfilment process, from offer to shipment.
The path was therefore articulated in a Hoshin Kanri process, aimed at defining and sharing the performance objectives of all the plants located in the various geographical areas; in redesigning the offer process and the front end of the order fulfilment process, with particular attention to the implementation phase; in launching Shop Floor Management®, in all the company areas, in order to control the progress of the orders and the allocation of resources.
