The food industry needs to change course
Today, more and more consumers want to buy their food with a clear conscience. Yet, sustainability and pricing pressures are issues that the food sector will only find answers to with a fundamental change in course.
This change must involve every single player, from the local discount store to the grower to holistically improve the farm-to-fork process. The industry is fully aware that they are still dealing with a lot of waste in its value chains. So taking this out would not only reduce CO2 emissions as well as the mountain of food that is simply discarded, but also improve the bottom line at the same time. The industry paper on food is an invitation to take a much needed look at the bigger picture in your own industry.
The increasing customer demand for quality at the lowest price represents an environment of tension that we can only survive in if we make the non-value added in our E2E processes transparent and work systematically to reduce it.
